BRIDGES TO THE HOLY LAND

MISSION STATEMENT

The central objective of the Bridges to the Holy Land project is to provide professional and financial support to the front line Interfaith Peacemakers community working in Israel/Palestine. We are all working diligently toward building functional bridges to peace and unifying endeavors between people and organizations at home and in regions of the world where the need is the greatest.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The work began in 2004-5 when the project Director spent 14 months in Israel/Palestine working with the interfaith peacemaking community. An assessment of the most effective support that can be brought into this region is complete. In addition to the projects already accomplished, we will now expand to include the founding of Shlom Zion, Al-Quds Peacebuilders Center in Jerusalem. The Center will provide wellness, trauma counseling and healing staff who will meet the many needs of weary peaceworkers of all denominations who are striving to rebuild their land and their lives. The Center will provide a safe space to rest, share a meal, meet and network with fellow peacemakers. Light-hearted recreational entertainment will be produced by staff and volunteers during some of the evening and weekend hours.

Training in advanced methodologies of peacemaking will be presented by experts in the region and beyond. Highly effective training materials will be published and distributed throughout Israel/Palestine and to any region in the world desiring them. Consultation will also be provided for other peace related organizations. An Interfaith Peacebuilders Directory will be published on the Internet and in hard copy. This will serve to further unite and strengthen the peacemaker community throughout the region. Healing in this region is essential to world peace.

EXPANDED PROJECT

Once the basic programs are in place and required funds are available, additional projects will be initiated that further the process of uplifting and transforming the mental and emotional status of people living in this challenging region. These projects include, Positive Images/Positive News, Family Harmony Education, Living Spiritual Elders, (Interfaith) Caring Fathers Program, 3,000 Points of Light, Whole Person Service Training for community service providers. We will support the most innovative projects of others, including those emphasizing children and adolescent youth.

THE WORK AT HOME

Bridges to the Holy Land associates have also fully committed to bringing the above innovative approaches into the mainstream community of Sarasota, Florida. We are core team members of a wide variety of community and peacebuilding organizations. We are fully engaged in initiating peace and human relations education into the elementary, high school and university school systems. Excellent progress is now being made toward the future of our youth and their families. Healthy individuals and successful families will produce a more peace-filled world.
